Backstory

When I first got hired at my school, the seniors were interviewing teachers about their prom experiences. Most teachers shared sweet, predictable, heartwarming stories. Not me! My story took a few unexpected turns — so much so that one student asked if he could be the one to interview me because it was just that good. Ever since then, I’ve shared bits of it each year, and now, it’s finally time for the whole story to come out.

While I’ve added a few details for comedic effect, the heart of it is all true: the original prom date who canceled, the teacher who tried to set me up with her nephew (spoiler alert: that did not go well)… and a whole lot more you’ll have to read to believe.
